Step it up!!

Sorry for being MIA the last few months. Blogging is still new for me and I'm trying to get a handle on it. I have tons of projects made but it's the work of taking photos and adding the text and uploading that troubles me. If you know me then you know technology and I don't get along. But I'm trying so hang in there with me.

So to start off I'm showing you something special I've been working on. People often tell me how wonderful my cards are. And ask how do you make it so "wow"? I'll admit that it doesn't always come easily. But with practice anyone can make "wow" cards.

Start off with a basic design. Simple stamped images with mixed pieces.

Next you can add another pop of colour and some embellishment.

Finally add a background piece to the butterfly and some metallic thread and a strip of sequins. Heat emboss the sentiment to finish the card!! Voila!! You now have a Wow card!!!

Watercolour Thanks

Another week has come and gone again? I must be in summer mode right now!Trying to squeeze in all the fun with my boys during the day.  Which leaves little time for anything else. But I did manage to make this beauty to thank a special friend. (But I lost track of time and was late to pick up my eldest from summer camp!)
I'm still loving the new Flourishing Phrases Thinlits. This was a perfect match with the Hello You Thinlits.

Freehand Water Colouring

It's amazing what a brush, water and ink pad can create!  This lovely card I made using only just that!  Don't be afraid to give this a try.  Combined with the new Stylized Birthday stamp and Labeler Alphabet set, this card is perfect for a special someone. In fact I gave this to a dear friend celebrating a milestone birthday this year.

Watercolour wash

Sorry for the delayed post, but here's this week's watercolour post.  Create a simple watercolour wash to the background of a card to make it pop!  Simply mix a drop of ink with some water and using your Aqua Painter brush wash it over watercolour paper.  Great thing about this technique is that you can control how much ink to use.  Allow to fully dry before stamping any images.  This card used the new Flourishing Phrases stamp set with matching Thinlit dies.  The image is stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed in white

Watercolour Wednesday!

Hi!  My love for watercolouring continues.  Seeing how ink and water blend together to create some magic is wonderful!  I'm not a painter or artist by any means but Stampin' Up! makes this technique so easy to do.  A few drops of ink and a Aqua Painter brush filled with water is all you need.  And maybe a little practice and patience too.

For this simple thank you card, from the stamp set YOU'VE GOT THIS, I've stamped the flower in Versamark ink and then heat embossed in white.  Then I just used my Aqua Painter brush filled with water and dipped in some ink and brushed.  Be sure to use watercolour paper regular cardstock will not work.  Easy, simple and one of kind.  Catch me again next Wednesday for another watercolour creation!

Swirly Bird Thank You Card

Hello!  Brand new from the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog is the Swirly Bird stamp set.  This set is so fun and versatile that the possibilities are endless!  The set also has matching Thinlits. Featured in this card is also one of the new in-colours: Sweet Sugarplum. The background stripes are created using a custom cut stencil and just a simple sponging technique.
